What a sad end for any locomotive! Your photo has so much in it to keep the viewer looking for a long time. There is lot's going on yet nothing appears to be moving. I have enjoyed looking at your photo's. Thanks very much. Errol

Hi all, In reply to Alex you can see 37705 and a 47 from the bridge! It is a shame these locos get scrapped, but you surly have to agree that for the progression of our railways we have to get rid of surpless to requirment stock and locomotives! TJ Thomsons have been recycling locos and wagons for about 60 years, and have even seen a Class 35 Hymek in their yard. Check out http://www.wnxx.com for info on locomotive scrappings HIGHLY RECOMENDED also you could join WNXX forums @ http://www.wnxx.net Thanks James Stoker

Hi, I just wanted to first of all thank you for posting such interesting photo's, you have no idea how much it means to me to be able to see the rail scene back 'home' in the UK. It was interesting to note the sorry state of such an important yard as the Tees Yard. My how things have changed since I worked in the Stirling Middle Signalbox back in the 50's. I'll see for myself next April when we come over for our holidays. Thanks again, Errol

Hi James, your pic of slam-door unit 4308, that's Class 414 2-HAP third rail electric unit. Never knew it was at NRM York! On my trips to London when I was a teenager, I remember seeing these things on their last days coming and going at Charing Cross, Cannon St and Victoria station - oh I must be gettin' old!!! But NOT that old! Cheers Mark

The site of the old sidings has been cleared, the ballast left over is a welcome habitat for the RARE Grayling Butterfly, Maze Park (Tees Valley Wildlife Trust) is making ballast beds as the butterfly uses them to lay eggs in! Only three colonies of this type of butterfly are in the North East of England! The best time to look for this rare creature is in early July!

I thought who will have a shot of 37411? but I didn't expect you to go to York to get it. Pity about the head shot some times the sun is a proper nuisance. Good pic though.

A hope the driver thrashed through York station for you. Am sorry to hear your head on shot was ruined by the sun. The sun was'nt any better at Durham either, the Sun came out just as the 37 was coming off the viaduct. My shot of 37411 is at www.northeasrailphotos.fotopic.net.

Thanks Anth. :-P I wouldn't mind one of these on the Middlesbrough runs. The guard of the train said it was the first time he'd brought a 170 to York. He didn't know if it was a regular working now however.

Thanks again mate.
